Back to School

The last eight weeks has been a nice break from school.  I did have to continue with one online class in advanced computer applications.  However I only needed to spend an average of about 1 hour a week on that subject.  I haven’t seen my final grade,  but I know my assignment grades and test scores and I should have a solid A in th class!  My final exam was posted yesterday and I received a 100!

On Wednesday, I start back with Fundamentals of financial accounting and intro to Computer Science (C++ programming).  I look forward to these classes, though I will be attending them on campus Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays.  I normally try to limit my on campus classes to two nights per week, but the schedule just didn’t allow it this time.  Next session I will be back to two nights a week with continuing the C++ class and managerial accounting, plus an online course in Information Systems Management.  That all equates to 4 classes for the semester.

I am still on track to finish my degree in May of 2009.  Looking forward to that time!

Summer Vacation?

I finished my Theology and Philosophy class a few weeks ago. I did well in both, I got a B+ in Theology and an A in Philosophy. The only class I have remaining is the advanced computer applications class that I am taking online. It is nice not having as much school work, however I quickly filled the free time doing chores around the house. I had planned on using some of my free time to study the CLEP exam for a management class and to study some XHTML and CSS web developing. However, I am finding it hard to discipline myself to study those subjects when I know I really don’t have to! Oh well, at least I am getting a few things around the house done, and finally getting to watch a few of the movies I get from Netflix.

In August, I will start back on campus with an Accounting Class and a Intro to Computers (C++). Until then, I will try to enjoy the time away from school so I don’t burn out over the next two years!

3 Classes is much!

I haven’t been adding anything to my website lately. Mostly due to I have too much school work. I have three classes this session. I am taking a Computer Apps class that will last 16 weeks. However I am also taking Philosophy 109 and Theology 109. I must warn anybody taking theology….It isn’t hard, but does require a lot of work. I average 16 typed pages a week for my Theology class. That is a lot of work! Then having philosophy at the same time! Now I do find Philosophy has worked hand in hand with theology. Seems we talk about much of the same material, but from different perspectives!

I still have one week left of Theology and Philosophy, and then all I have left is the computer class for the next 8 weeks. It should be a nice break. However to finish those other two, I must finish a term paper for both, as well as study for final exams. So I don’t have much time to write in my blogs. I promise I will write more this summer.

Another Session complete

I finished my English Composition Class with an A! I was very pleased with how well I did. I was worried for nothing. I enjoyed the class, however I have to say, once the research paper was turned in, the rest of the writings were easy and fun.

I also completed the Modern Political Thought class with an A-. I really enjoyed that class. Kevin Arwajo makes his lectures interesting to listen to. I have to say that his exams are not always easy, but they are fair. I believe my grades don’t show what I really learned.

I will post my final English paper and my review of Pink Floyd The Wall sometime.

The summer session is going to be a lot of work! I must be crazy taking Philosophy and Theology at the same time. I worked on this weeks theology class and it took me most of the afternoon today. By the time I quit for the day, I had seven pages typed (of course that is double spaced). I also had to type the answers to a couple questions for my Philosophy class and read about St. Francis De Sales so I can write a book report him.

Not to mention I am also taking the advanced computer applications class online, and needed to answer and submit some questions for that class. That class is going to be a thorn in my side! That should be the easiest class I have, but the instructor has taken the flexibility away. From his writings online, I am not impressed by him at all. He sounds like he wants to be a dictator or something and demands respect instead of earning it. Maybe I am wrong, but that is how his writings come off to me! I had hoped to work ahead in that class, but he has made it so that will be difficult. Then he plans to have a 1 hour window to take tests. I guess he doesn’t believe in technology being used to give flexibility!

So all in all, I will have a busy schedule for the next 8 weeks. (16 for the computer class). But after the 8 weeks, I am giving myself a break until the fall session. As of today, I have 48 credits toward the 120 requirement, so I am well on my way. If everything goes as planned, I will graduate 2 years from this month!

Finishing another 2 courses

Tomorrow is the final day of my English 104 Composition writing, and my Modern Political Thinking 202 classes. Then starting Tuesday, I begin Catholic Theology and Philisophical Thinking. I also start a 16 week class online for Advanced Computer Applications.

I am trying to get my final Bibliographic essay completed for tomorrow. I started writing it and after writing four pages, I realized it was getting as long as my research paper itself. I rethought what I wanted to say and started over. It still looks like it will be four pages in length, that would be half the size of the actual research paper. My research paper was written about the lack of current computer technology books at the DeSales University library and many of the public libraries. I am debating wheter to post my paper on this site. What do you think? Email me if you think I should publish it here.

For Modern Political Thought, I have an exam tomorrow that I am studying for. The final exam is the last of three exams. This one deals with Fascism. Both Musolini and Hitler’s time. One of our assignments was to watch Pink Floyd’s The Wall. I enjoyed that since I watched this movie when it was on the big screen in 1982. Of course back then, I watched it for the music and never really understood the meanings behind the movie. Now, I enjoy the music and understand what is happening. I had to write a paper on it explaining Pink’s relationship with society and government.

I also had to read the book Night by Elie Wiesel. This was about his experience as a jewish boy and living through the holocust. It was a good read, and I plan to start another category on this site to talk about books and movies I have read and seen. This will be one that I review. Another will be Animal Farm as I had to read that for this class when we studied communism. That was also an enjoyable book, however the first time I read it was before studying communism. It was even better reading it the second time know who each character represented in real life.

Well, I better get back to my studies. I hope to finish these last two classes with an A in English and a B in Political thought. So I better get to work.
