SPRING!

Finally, spring has arrived! This past week, the weather began to warm up. This weekend is absolutely wonderful. The weather on Friday was in the 60s and on Saturday we had sunshine and temps in the 70s. It felt so good putting on a T-shirt and just being outside. Today is suppose to be a bit warmer. Actually a it may get a little too warm. The forcast is for temps in the 80s with lots of sunshine. I don’t particularly care for it that warm, but after waiting so long for warm weather, I will take it!

I worked in the yard a little yesterday. Trimmed a couple bushes on the side of the house and the holly bush by my back porch. They look very nice with the trim job. I still need to do some weeding in the flower beds, and just basic yard clean up. I hope to do some of that today, but I must also complete some school work as well. We bought some steaks for the grill this evening, so I can work in the yard and cook at the same time!

Well, spring is here, and I hope it stays a long time. I am in no hurry to have summer weather, so a long spring would be nice to have! Yes I will complain when it gets too hot. I hear people say “You complain when it is cold, and you complain when it is hot.” This is true, I don’t like very cold or very hot weather. The best time of year is spring with temps in the upper 50s in the morning and mid 60s to low 70s in the afternoon. So yes, when it is extremely cold or hot, I will complain!! If you don’t like it, tune me out :)

Where is Spring!

Okay, it is April 12, and it is still COLD!  Why?  I hate cold weather, and I dislike the heat of summer.  Spring has always been the time of year I love the most, so why is it eluding me this year?  Last weekend was Easter and we have always done some yard work on Easter weekends in past years.  This year, I stayed inside, and it looks like this weekend will be another indoor weekend.  It is suppose to rain with a chance of some snow flurries.  Ohhhhh.  I just want sixty degree weather!  I sure hope we don’t jump past spring and end up with a hot summer.

I guess I really shouldn’t complain since the last fall lasted a really long time.  We were well into late January before we started getting really cold weather.  But I will complain anyway as this is the time of year where the flowers should be blooming, and leaves growing and breathing the fresh clean air!  Ahhhhhh, come on spring, we are waiting.

Frankie was had

Yes, the April Fools joke on Frankie went okay. I don’t know how many phone calls he received as he would only say “enough.” To make it funnier, I planned for when he would call. I had written a message to read, as though he was hearing an answering machine. The message was “Due to the Floyd holiday on April 1, we are unable to answer the phone. Please leave a message, or call back on Monday April 2.” Each time I would see his name appear in caller id, I would read this message and then push a phone button at the end. He kept hanging up. Finally in the evening, I call his number and he wouldn’t answer. So I called his girlfriend’s phone and asked her how a Goat race worked. After that, we talked about the jokes from years past. This year was awarded to me! I guess now I have to be on my toes more each year until he gets me back!

Don’t know if anybody looked at Google’s April Fools joke this year. I make it a habit to look each year, knowing they will do something. It wasn’t their best, but it was cute. They were offering free WiFi broadband by a new service Called TiSP. (Reading FAQ, you learned TiSP stood for Toilet Internet Service Provider). When you sign up, they would send you an installation CD, a wireless router, and a spool of fiber optics cable. The idea was to flush the fiber down you toilet, and it would travel through the waste system (sorry no septic tank service). Once it reached the waste station, it would be hooked up to the Internet backbone and you would have service, all in about sixty minutes. Of course they recommend you call a plumber to re-route the wires through your toilet seat for comfort. I don’t know if they have the ad archived somewhere, but if you can find it, it is worth a chuckle to read.

April Fools Day.

April Fools day means I must be on my top guard today!  Why?  Because of an old college friend named Frankie.  We have played pranks on each other over the years.  April 1 is the one day that each of us knows for a fact, the other is thinking “What is he up to today!”  Fact is that many years go by where neither of us actually prank the other, but we know the possibilities are strong.

This year I planned a prank, however it will only be carried out partially.  I created a flyer advertising a Goat Race and Pig Pickin’.  The idea was to advertise it in the classified section of the paper where he lives.  However since I had in the ad that it benifited the FLYOD Scholarship fund, the paper wanted to publish it for free.  I felt that would have been unethical, so I told the girl it was a prank.  She thought it was funny, but apparently her supervisor did not think so.  The supervisor called me back and refused to print the ad.

However, all is not lost.  I did manage to have some flyers handed out in the area he lives in and hope some people do call him.  I also had a flyer mailed to him from another state (one that I nor he lives in).  The flyer should get to him after April 1, so he can see what it said.

Now I am just waiting for my phone to ring.  The clue that indicates it was a prank by me is the misspelling of his name.  I always spelled Floyd as F L Y O D when we were in school.  Every time he sees his name misspelled, he thinks of me.  So it is the clue as if he needs one.
I will let write how it goes in a later posting.  Until then, do you have a goat you would like to enter into his race?  If you enter a goat, you get 2 free tickets to his pig pickin. :)

New Blog

While reading through books at Borders Books today, I picked up a book about WordPress. I sat drinking my caramel latte and flipping through the book, and decided to revisit WordPress that I already had installed on my website over a year ago. To start out, I forgot the password to administer it! So I ended up deleting the files and database, and started over. Here is the results!

I would like to play with this some more and design some themes. I have a few ideas for a blog, but for now I will just experiment. Maybe this site will grow, and maybe I will just put it a side again. Who knows! Check back later to see if I keep it up, or let it go!
