Résumé Page

I have created a new page that has my résumé. All the info is pulled from Linkedin, so I only have to edit in one place and this page is automatically updated. At the top of the this page (above the header), you can find the link. Please review and pass my info to anybody looking for employees!! There is a form at the bottom if anybody wants to contact me, I chose to use a form with spam controls instead of publishing my email address. (some spam prevention)

We are not Moving.

Well, the move to North Carolina is off.  Last week I was called in to HR and Volvo rescinded their offer for me to move and informed me they no longer had a position for me at all.  I was given a 60 day notice, so after May 4 I will be unemployed.  :(

I learned in January that my role was going to be decommissioned in May and that Volvo was reducing my team from 13 people world wide to just 3 worldwide. I had hoped for one of the 3 global positions, but I did not get it. As a result of the bad economy, Volvo has stated they could not find a new position for me, and they had to terminate my employment after 23 years of service! I was one of 11 people planning to move that was eliminated as well as 21 people in the Greensboro area.

I am sad to leave and a bit scared as I have not looked for employment in 23 years. I do have hope that something bigger and better will come my way. I will obtain my B.S. degree in Management of Information Systems in May, so that should be of some help opening a few more doors. I am still thinking about starting work on Masters this fall as I think that will also help.

It has taken me a week to absorb some of the shock. Now it is time to start looking forward. If you know of anything that may be of benefit to me, let me know. Also I am building my network on Linkedin.com, you will find a link at the top right side of my page. If you are already a member, please join my network. If your not, you should check out joining. (and then connect to me of course).

Caring Bridge

Erica has created a page at Caring Bridge to keep people update on Raymond’s progress.  You can follow his progress by visiting  http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/raymondchristopher .

I only have eight more weeks of School!!  I am excited, but I guess that will be squashed when the student loan payments start.  But for now, YEAH!  All I have to complete is my Senior Seminar which includes a project for an area School district, and a research paper with teaching the subject to the class one night.  And I have a Liturature class to complete.  I still plan to continue in the Master program, but until I move and get settled, that has to wait.  Hopefully this one year wait won’t turn into 20 like the last time I waited a year!

Jennifer and I are going to New York City tomorrow to do a ship inspection on NCL’s ship the Gem.  Should be nice as it is NCL’s newest ship in their fleet.  I will spend the morning touring the ship, then lunch and the afternoon will be spent exploring and taking pictures to show clients.  Should be a nice day.  We might wander around NYC in the afternoon depending on how tired we are.

I plan to sign the papers on Monday to put our house on the market.  Little scary with all that is going on in the economy and with the drastic cuts Volvo has been making.  My area at work is like a ghost town.  I remember as little as four years ago we didn’t have enough space for all the employees.  We have eliminated most of our contractors and now it is so quiet!  At the end of March, we start loosing employees that have chosen not to move with the company, so it will only get worse.

The cute one

Raymond is holding his own.  He is so cute and looks so fragile.  He was diagnosed with Lukemia. From what I have read, this is not totally unexpected in a down syndrome child.  There is a chance that he could go into spontaneous remission, but will have to be watched as it could return in later years.  For now, we just hope he goes into remission.  They also said he has a problem with his red blood cells and may require a blood transfusion.  Hard to imagine so much happening with this little guy.  Though he looks so fragile, he looks to be a fighter so I have faith it will all work out.   Erica went home last Thursday,  the rest of the family are doing well.

Thanks for all the prayers, please keep praying.
